  • Short Description

Additive manufacturing, a.k.a. a 3D printing business, involves hiring software engineers, sales, talent, and an executive team (depending on scale of project). There is potential for individuals to find a niche where 3D printing can be used.

  • Full Description

This model was specifically designed for individuals interested in purchasing 3D printers in order to create merchantable products. Forecasting up to 5 years, this model includes monthly and annual reports. Smart logic enables strategic planning and specified assumptions drive projected revenues. Defined are three main categories of printers, as well as subsets of each type. One of the main assumptions is derived from the direct cost of materials for each 3D printer type. This category includes supplies needed per month, per printer type and any other cost that users want to attribute to operations. There are also assumptions that account for raising money through traditional bank loans as well as from investors and owners. Users can define profits share of investors and get potential exit value (per exit month). Logic exists to determine earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA), as well as earnings before tax (EBT). Dynamic logic determines the total value of purchases and depreciation expenses. Logic flows down to cash before and after equity and cumulative cash, accounting for all items that affect available cash flow. Users can define purchase count, cost per unit, purchase month, secondary product category, and maximum sales production per month (per 3D printer). In addition, users input the average starting sellable items per month (per 3D printer), sales price, and monthly compounding growth rate of items sold. This model contains complex logic. However, it is also user friendly; the model includes color coded editable cells to mitigate confusion when inputting data. A discounted cash flow analysis is included which shows ROI, IRR, NVP, and equity multiples. Twelve financial forecast visuals are also included.
