  • Short Description

Developing and operating an Amusement Park, Zoo, Aquarium, or general park that is designed to service the public/customers requires some fairly specific and modular assumptions. This financial model was built with that in mind. It allows for up to 10 exhibit schedules and a very granular input area for all assumptions accordingly.

  • Full Description

The model is built in the context of a Zoo, but the wordage can easily be change around to fit an Amusement Park as well and the monthly/annual financial pro-forma simply shows revenue sources, costs, and cash flow, which can easily be used to show profits if this is a for-profit park rather than a non-profit organization. There is an initial capital requirement based on all the assumptions as well as a monthly and annual change in cash flow. This will help set pricing properly based on what it may take to run the endeavor as well as recoup some of the construction costs over time. If some of the money was raised as a bond or note to a 3rd party, then the cash flow available can be used in a schedule to demonstrate the ability to repay this debt. Each exhibit has its own schedule of on-going upkeep expenses and costs per animal (split into daily/monthly/yearly), and initial construction costs. Revenues are based on a few different channels. They included: Expected visitors per year (up to three ticket prices) and there is logic to account for seasonality. Another stream is donations as well as government funding. There are also a few slots for revenue from gift shops, one-time events, and one-time initial contributions. On-going staff costs are on their own schedule as well as on-going operating expenses outside of the per-exhibit expenses and one-time capex as well as other startup costs each have their own schedule. A final Executive Summary displays the annual financial expectations and there are a few visualizations to accompany.
